I think part of the problem is that people inside corporations have more idea of the good things they are doing. It's easy to see someone like Yahoo as this company with huge amounts of horrible code. That's true. What's also true is the new things are generally really nice. The thing that makes it for me, is that the page(s) I work on is read by something like the population of Britain every month. Any small change I do can have a massive effect on the happiness or enjoyment of many people. If people from Yahoo get energized about Mircoformat, for example, we can make them parts of a range of sites as well as a major search engine. Give them some private attention by telling them that you have feelings and suddenly they are your best friends. I must say that I have been bashing corporations here and there too (recently Yahoo), but I have come back from this as I noticed that every company has a bit that you don't like.
