Good theory about an Akismet work around. I would think it's easy to post random crap without hitting Akismet, it's just when people start marking you as 'spam' that you hit the wall. In terms of the search thing, I do Google. Yahoo! are a great company but they don't own me. I love working here, but I think Google searches better for the things I search for. It found 738 instances... less than 24 hours after you found a dozen or so. Maybe you were one of the first hit by Jerry's bot. My guess was that ol' Jerry is looking for workaround to getting snagged by Akismet... maybe by getting an innocuous comment with no link URL published on a bunch of blogs first under that same e-mail address.
