Gyms rock and so do parks.

Posted by sh1mmer on Nov 12, 2005 in General

Having a rather grand day, started by making the other half breakfast in bed. Then we went to the Gym to thrash it out for a while and then off to the shops followed by the park. I have to say life in London really could be pretty crap without these two fabulous things. In the Gym I can listen to my Drum & Bass and my thrash metal while working it like I’m going out of fashion. In the park I can stroll around in quiet contemplation with my better half, feeding the extremely friendly birds and squirrels. While these two places are pretty different in form and function, how could I survive this metropolis without them… the more time I spend in both the more I wonder.

AJAX

Posted by sh1mmer on Nov 11, 2005 in General

So, I am going to some AJAX training next month, run by the excellent Carson Workshops. I first met Ryan and Gill who run these when my friend Joe was in London doing one. Now after the little soiree afterwards Ryan was enthusing about AJAX and Ruby on Rails. Lo and beyond now he has a workshop on it. In preperation I have been looking around at AJAX libraries on the all-knowing-interweb. I found a great page on the Open Source Application Foundation’s (Mitch Kapor’s ongoing exercise in making an Outlook killer) which describes the various AJAX libraries rather nicely.

Bonfire Night! Kaboom!

Posted by sh1mmer on Nov 6, 2005 in General

Rosemarie and I had an excellent bonfire night. We both made videos on our phones but I can’t seem to upload the 20mb monster I made, so here is one of Rosemarie’s more discrete ones: Bonfire Night Fireworks Video.
